Trace element, carbon dioxide and organic carbon analyses of a range of
Kimmeridge Shales show high correlation of the elements iodine and
bromine with organic carbon. It is suggested that marine plant material
incorporated with the sediment at the time of deposition is responsible
for the association of elements.
