Low And Intermediate Energy Heavy-Ion Reactions

Scientific paper

The detection system of the Dubna Gas Filled Recoil Separator (DGFRS) is briefly reviewed. Application of a PC-based real-time algorithm for the extraction of recoil-alpha energy-time-position correlation sequences in a real-time mode provides a possibility of radical suppression of background products. This technique has been applied in the experiments aimed at the synthesis of superheavy elements 112 to 118.
