The behavior of particles in the dipole magnetic field in a stochastic-instability region is studied numerically. The applicability of the drift approximation is evaluated, and the dimensions and form of the particle sink are determined in phase-pitch-angle variables. It is shown that the possibility of the accumulation of albedo protons is due to the loss of particle motion stability. The mixing of phases and pitch angles due to stochastic instability leads to a temporary capture (accumulation) of protons.
