From the distribution of the ratio Φ = component angular diameter/apparent overall angular size, as determined for quasars that have a double structure, the true distribution of the ratio φ = d/D (where d is the component diameter and D the overall dimension of the system) can be derived under the assumption of isotropy of the directions of source axis. The Φ-distribution as derived by Nottale (1982) from published data on the structure of quasar doubles is used. It turns out that the quantity φ varies by a factor of the order of 3. The mean value of 1/φ is found to be 7.1.
