The polarization measurements of the dust coma of 10 comets including P/Halley were analyzed. Separation of the dust from the gas, emphasizing the value of the narrow-band and spectropolarimetric data, is outlined. Polarization curves are deduced, implying unambiguous differences in the physical properties of the cometary dust. The negative branch of polarization is discussed and intepreted as suggesting a rough surface for the grains.
