The motion of the striae in the dust tails of Comets Mrkos 1957 V and West 1976 VI is checked to see whether it corresponds to the predictions of the high-speed ejection theory or to a special two-step kinematical sequence. It is found that only the two-step kinematics can explain all striae in both comets. The parent clouds (first step) are found to have low lateral velocity dispersion and unusual high acceleration; magnetic confinement and plasma interaction may be the cause. The first-step clouds, comprising comoving particles, may originate in regions where dust is optically thick (tau = 1). Shadowing effects then cause a radial confinement of the cloud.
