The Einstein-Vlasov equations with first-order quantum corrections are considered, and the associated moment hierarchy is determined for a scalar quantum field coupled to curved spacetime. Possible solutions for minimal and conformal coupling are investigated. It is noted that the Einstein-Vlasov equations should be a reasonable physical approximation for those early times at which the universe is radiation dominated, where no polarization effects are important, but where the world radius is still larger than the Planck length.
