Spectra of the old classical nova CP Pup(1942) were obtained with the IDS detector of the 1.5m ESO telescope. The observed rapid variations of radial velocity and equivalent width of emission lines indicate a very short orbital period of the order of 0.06 days. This is better defined from line peak than line baricenter. A secondary 0.04 day period might exist.
