A satellite with a magnetic attitude control system experiences undamped forces oscillations in orbital motion due to nonuniform variations of the direction and strength vector of the geomagnetic field at the current point of the orbit. In the framework of a stationary model of the geomagnetic field, the analysis of the forced motions of a satellite with a permanent magnet is reduced to the investigation of its periodic motions; allowance is made for the effects of gravitational and aerodynamic moments as well as for the effect of orbit eccentricity.
