The main possibilities of interstellar (i.s.) accretion on White Dwarfs (WDs) are investigated, in the light of the observations and of the more recent available data upon WDs envelope models. It is found that the upper limit to the i.s. accretion consistent with observations is approximately 9 orders of magnitude lower than the one requested for the existence of the so-called 'Single Novae', so that this last topic seems to be definitely ruled out.
