The Thirring (1972) model is used in an investigation of the thermodynamic qualities of a system of self-gravitating fermions, where expressions for the free energy and pressure of the gravitating system are applied to a star. The critical radius and temperature values derived indicate the existence of a transition after the Main Sequence stage, marked by the onset of a core-halo structure.
