Spirit landed in a flat plain in Gusev crater. Observations (topography,
morphology, rocks, soil and surfacial material) are tested against
hypotheses (aeolian, volcanic, aqueous, glacial, impact) that have been
proposed to explain the depositional history of material in Gusev.
