Time variation of metal abundance Z in the interstellar gas is studied and it is found that the abundance Z does not necessarily increase monotonously with time. Super-metal-rich stars are explained as the stars formed during the peak stage of Z, which appeared at (1 ± 0.5) × 109 years after the start of star formation in galaxies. After the peak stage, the metal abundance approaches some constant value, which is determined by the final stellar structure and the mass spectrum of stars.
