The decaying dark matter which ionizes the H I regions of the Galaxy and Lyman-alpha clouds is studied. It is shown that, in order to avoid an excessive metagalactic ionizing flux, the energy of the decay photons must be severely constrained. The mass and lifetime of the decaying particles need to be constrained as well as the Hubble constant and the flux, density and age of the universe.
