In the simple shift-and-add method proposed by Bates and Cady (1980), the brightest point in each speckle image is shifted to the center of image space, and the translated image is added to all other speckle images that have been similarly processed. This method is presently used in the reconstruction of a binary star, Alpha Com, which was observed in wide bandwidth light.
