In recent years, Berry's phase has appeared in many fields of theoretical physics. Experimentally, a direct measure of Berry's phase at the classical level is given by the rotation of the polarization angle of linearly polarized light, propagating along wound optical fibers. To describe the propagation of polarized light in nontrivial background geometries, transport equations for the Stokes parameters have recently been derived by making use of a covariant generalization of the Wigner transformation. Here, it is shown that these equations in the classical limit correctly describe the experimental measurement of Berry's phase for polarized light.
