Systematics in the structural properties of globular clusters (GCs) are important clues to the formation and evolution of both individual clusters and entire GC systems. I will briefly review the empirical definition and physical interpretation of the fundamental plane of GCs in the Milky Way and use this as a basis to discuss quantitatively how the properties of resolved extragalactic globulars (in M31 M33 and NGC 5128) compare with each other and with the Milky Way cluster system. New results relating younger star clusters and the stellar nuclei in dwarf and late-type galaxies to the GC fundamental plane will also be presented. The implications of an increasingly comprehensive view of a fundamental plane for star clusters will be highlighted in terms of theoretical issues in cluster formation and dynamical evolution; the observational question of metal-rich vs. metal-poor GC sizes in distant ellipticals; and the connection with the fundamental plane of dynamically hot galaxies.
