The ACS Virgo Cluster Survey is a large HST program to study both the early-type galaxy population in the Virgo Cluster and the Virgo Cluster itself. One hundred elliptical and lenticular galaxies are being imaged with exceptional spatial resolution in the SDSS g (F475W) and z (F850LP) filters to a (point-source) signal-to-noise ratio of five at V = 25.7. These data are being used to determine galaxy surface brightness and color profiles derive galaxy distances using the method of surface brightness fluctuations and measure the sizes magnitudes colors and metallicities for the many thousands of globular clusters associated with the program galaxies. In this talk I shall report on the status of the survey and present some early science results.
