The possibility of measuring the linear polarization direction of nuclear gamma-rays as evidence of proton directionalities in solar flares is discussed. Consideration is given to the linear polarization properties of the 4.43 and 6.13 MeV photons that are assumed to be produced in the (p, p prime) processes with C-12 and O-16, respectively. It shown that the projected linear polarization amplitudes are fairly large for these lines and that they depend only moderately on the alignment of the emitting states. It is concluded that measurements of the linear polarizations of 4.43 and 6.13 MeV lines during solar flares may provide unique information about particle direction in flares.
