Implications of high-energy γ-ray observations of the Andromeda galaxy with the next generation of satellites Gamma-1 and GRO are discussed in the context of the origin of cosmic rays and γ-ray processes. The present estimate of the total γ-ray flux of this galaxy at energies above 100 MeV is a factor of about 3 less than previous estimates.
