The temporal development of energetic electron precipitation is examined on the basis of data derived from the Alaska meridian chain of riometers which are distributed across the auroral region. Comparison is made with the concurrent dynamical features and distribution of the aurora as recorded by the same meridian chain of all-sky cameras. Extensive use is also made of both ground-based and satellite auroral imagery data.
