The primary aim of the GOCE Mission is to provide unique models of the Earth's gravity field and of its equipotential reference surface, as represented by the geoid, on a global scale with high-spatial-resolution and to very high accuracy. Such an advance in the knowledge of the Earth's gravity field and its geoid will help to develop a much deeper understanding of how the Earth's interior system works.
