Symbiotic stars undergo periodic TNR outbursts in which no mass is lost and the accreting white dwarf expands to the dimensions on a A-F giant/supergiant for several months or years before returning to the quiescent state. Several systems display eclipses that, coupled with an orbital solution, allow to determine the absolute values of the white dwarf mass, radius and temperature, and how them evolve during a outburst cycle. In this note we present preliminary results for the symbiotic system AS 296.
