In this note we indicate the basic ingredients needed for the
construction of Type IIB N=1, D=4 orientifolds. In particular we
introduce a Cartan-Weyl basis description, which appears to be specially
useful for establishing the connection with dual candidate heterotic
pairs. Hints for finding such candidate pairs are presented.
