Magnetic fields may be an important factor in shaping photoionized regions. We have studied the development of ionization fronts as they pass through gas containing an oblique magnetic field. Forbidden regions occur about both the fast and the slow magnetosonic speeds; separate classes of R and D type solutions are found about each critical speed. We calculate the jump conditions across the allowed ionization fronts. In the light of this, we discuss the importance of magnetic fields for the large scale properties of H II regions and for the internal structures of ionization fronts.
