An electron beam is considered flowing in a one-dimensional
electrostatic planar diode with both electrodes grounded. Two integral
equations for the electric field, characterizing the Pierce (1944) diode
in the cold fluid regime are obtained by using Lagrange transform. These
equations agree exactly with those obtained by Godfrey (1987).
