In this paper we discuss ISO spectrophotometry of a sample of Asymptotic Giant Branch stars and Red Supergiants in the LMC. The observations were fitted with spectral energy distributions calculated using a radiative transfer code. In this way luminosities and mass loss rates for the stars as well as the chemical nature of the dust shells around the stars could be established. The luminosity and mass loss distributions of these stars are presented. We find clear luminosity distinctions between optical C-stars, dust enschrouded C-stars and M-type stars.
