We report on hydrodynamic simulations of thermonuclear runaways in the hydrogen-rich envelopes of accreting white dwarfs, leading to nova outbursts. By means of a one-dimensional, lagrangian, implicit, hydrodynamic code we reproduce the gross features of a classical nova, from the onset of accretion, through the progress of the outburst up to the expansion stage, where significant mass loss takes place. Detailed nucleosynthesis is obtained by following the evolution of 100 nuclei, ranging from 1H to 40Ca, and linked through a network of 370 nuclear reactions. Special attention is focused on the potential synthesis of 7Li in novae, and on the production of radioactive nuclei like 22Na and 26Al, for their interest in gamma-ray astrophysics.
