The report summarizes the activities of the Observatory during the period 1942-43. There are sections on the staff and organization; observing conditions; solar research; asteroid, satellites and comets (Jupiter IX, Comet Wolf, Comet 1942f); stellar investigations; stellar spectroscopy; galactic nebulae and novae; extragalactic nebulae, physical laboratory work (rare-earth spectra, instrumentation); maintenance and construction; the library and a bibliogrphy of publications. The solar research included solar photography, sunspot activity, sunspot polarities, solar prominences, H and K lines in magnetic storms, molecules detected, ultraviolet solar spectrum, and solar rotation. Stellar research included parallaxes and proper motions (faint stars, Cepheid variables, h Persei), work on the faint companion of 61 Cygni, photoelectric measures, colors and spectral types of polar stars, extension of the photographic scale in certain selected areas, light curve of Nova Puppis 1942. Stellar spectroscopy included work on Taurus Cluster radial velocities, early-type emission stars (HD 242257, HD 142983), stars with combination spectra (BF Cygni, AX Persei, RW Hydrae, CI Cygni, Z Andromedae), dwarf stars, variable stars (UZ Tauri), N- and R-type stars, faint blue stars, identifications and displacements of lines (Beta Pegasi, Alpha Orionis), H and K lines in late-type stars, three bright early-type stars (Beta Orionis, P Cygni, Tau Scorpii), and interstellar lines. Galactic Nebulae and Nova studies work on Nova T Coronae Borealis, Nova Herculis 1934, Novae Persei 1901, Nova T Aurigae 1891, R Aquari, Nova Cygni 1942 and Nova Puppis 1942. Extragalactic work included photometry of nearby galaxies and continuation of the spectroscopy program.
