Solar Granulation: Structure
Scientific paper
Two types of dimension are introduced to estimate the solar granule fractality: DδP = 1-Δlg P/Δlg δP and DPS = 2Δlg P/Δlg S. Here P is the perimeter of a granule boundary, δP is the yardstick for the perimeter measurement, S is the area of a granule. In the granulation one possibly deals with the new class of a set of elements different from fractals, where linear relationship lg P-lg S exists and DPS > DδP while the fractality is insufficient (or absent). There are three intervals of granule sizes with qualitatively different rates of their fragmentation. The adequate mechanism of such fragmentation is still unknown.
