Adaptive Optics: Optical Systems

Scientific paper

The angular resolution of a ground based telescope is limited by
atmospheric turbulence to a typical value of a few arcseconds. A way to
overcome this major problem and approach the diffraction limit is to use
adaptive optics. The main components of an optical adaptive system
developed for several years at ONERA are reviewed here.
