The thermally emitted microwave spectrum of the terrestrial atmosphere,
viewed from above, is calculated for frequencies in the vicinity of a
Zeeman-split oxygen line. The effect of the polarization-dependent real
part of the refractive index is included. A radiometer configuration for
measuring the mesospheric temperature from a satellite is described.
