Analyses of lunar samples and lunar meteorites and theoretical models of lunar morphology and evolution are discussed, reviewing results published during the period 1983-1986. Topics examined include the collisional ejection hypothesis for the origin of the moon, lunar meteorites from Antarctica, mare basalts, igneous and polymict rocks of the lunar-highlands crust, seismic structure and the lunar interior, and lunar regolith. Proposals for a manned base on the moon and a lunar polar orbiter (the Lunar Geoscience Observer) are briefly considered.
