In a study conducted by Stolarksi (1972) it was noted that the transport equation for photoelectrons in a single-constituent plane-parallel medium is equivalent to the equation of radiative transfer. A description is presented of an analytic investigation which is extending Stolarski's work and provides new results concerning the transport problem. The results show explicitly how the angular distribution of the emergent intensity depends on the variation of the internal source with depth and on the angular variation of the incident beam.
