Regular measurements performed by the Prognoz-8 satellite of the interplanetary plasma during the XII STIP period (April-May 1981) are examined. Nine intense interplanetary disturbances identified as interplanetary shock waves were detected. The characteristics of plasma flow before and after the arrival of the shock front are examined, and the shock waves are correlated with solar flares.
