The dynamic behavior of an axisymmetric satellite-gyrostat in the presence and absence of external control inputs is investigated theoretically. The equation of translational-rotational motion in a rotating reference frame is set up and minimization of a functional is sought as a solution in the optimal stabilization problem. The optimal Liapunov function and the Bellman function are set up for the problem.
