Geomagnetic effects of the Hall and Pedersen current flowing in the auroral ionosphere were studied using EISCAT radar data from simultaneous measurements of the electric field and conductivities at a fixed point, carried out on July 28-29, 1987, together with data from ground magnetometers. These data were processed statistically on a coordinate system in which the pure Hall current and the Pedersen current can be separated. The contribution of the Hall current was estimated as 0.56 nT/(A/km), when its center is above the radar station. The Pedersen current contributions were estimated to be in the 0.14-0.20 nT(A/km) range.
