Reflection coefficients and polarization ratios and phases are calculated for radiowave backscattering from a column of meteoric ionization by means of the full wave treatment. The validity of approximate models is discussed with attention to discrepancies between experimentally determined polarization ratios and ratios predicted by other full wave solutions. Reflection coefficients and polarization parameters obtained from the present full wave solution are compared with values found experimentally and are found to be in accord.
