The goal of the symposium was to review the state-of-the-art in our understanding of solar active phenomena, spanning through subjects such as: 1. key structures producing solar activity; 2. initiation and development of transient activity; 3. non-thermal phenomena in the Sun and the interplanetary medium; 4. flare prediction and long-term solar variability forecast.
