Direct nonthermal bremsstrahlung and electronbeam-energized hot plasma thermal bremsstrahlung calculations are presently conducted on the basis of numerical simulation results for solar atmospheric response to heating during solar flares by nonthermal electron beams. It is established that while emission is dominated by the thermal component below a certain 'cross-over' energy, the direct brehmsstrahlung component becomes more important at higher energies. The dependence of the cross-over energy on the parameters of the electron energy input is also investigated, and the minimum photon energy which should be observable with future instruments in order that the nonthermal component not be swamped by the self-consistent thermal counterpart created by beam heating.
