Analytical expressions are obtained for the motion of an earth satellite caused by diurnal variations of atmospheric density (the so-called diurnal effect). The intermediate orbit of the satellite is represented in the form of a solution to the generalized problem of two fixed centers. Formulas are derived for orbit-element perturbation which are valid for all values of the intermediate parameter e less than 1.
