Accreting white dwarfs encompass a wide range of classes of interacting binaries. These systems are characterised by an extremely variable photometric behaviour, both periodic and non-periodic, on timescales ranging from a few seconds to several years, extending over a wide range of physical conditions and evolutionary phases. Because of this, the study of the variability of accreting white dwarfs represents a well suited project for the parallel science programme of the Eddington mission. Here we outline some of the many scientific outcomes of the unprecedented monitoring which can be performed with Eddington for these systems with a very complex behaviour.
