Wave particle interactions which involve electromagnetic ultra low frequency (ULF) waves in the equatorial region of the magnetosphere are studied. The three-dimensional structure and origin of long period pulsations (3-50 mHz, Pc-3,4,5) are analyzed. The properties of 1-10 Hz magnetosonic waves are described; these emissions correlate with features of the energetic particle population. The linear amplification, quasi-linear diffusion, generation of suprathermal electrons, and nonresonant acceleration of the ion cyclotron waves (0.1-2 Hz, Pc-1,2) are investigated. The propagation characteristics and generation mechanism for Jovian ULF emissions in the Io torus region are examined.
