The facular contribution to solar irradiance variations on the short time scale is studied by analyzing a simple case of an isolated active region that crossed the solar disk during the 1996 minimum of activity, NOAA AR 7978. Its passage during several Carrington rotations, specifically from rotation 1911 to 1916, allows us to analyze the evolution of the angular distribution of the excess radiance of the facular region using SOHO/VIRGO and MDI data. We associate this evolution with the evolution of the extent corresponding to the isolated active region as well as with the aging of the region itself. Finally, we evaluate the total (i.e. in all directions) emission of this facular region and its spectral and temporal evolution.
