The magnetohydrostatic equilibrium of solar prominences is treated analytically. The set of exact eigenvalue solutions that describes topologically different magnetic configurations is found. These solutions correspond to magnetic configurations with continuous magnetic field and finite magnetic energy per unit length of filament. The influence of a horizontal magnetic field on a filament is considered in detail. With thermodynamic parameters observed by Landman, the magnetic field and total mass of a prominence with a simple magnetic topology are estimated.
