A strangelet mass formula which includes shell and deformation effects has suggested candidates for stable strange He. Such strangelets were found to have possible astrophysical consequences, even at very low abundance. A search has been initiated in He for strangelets, using a high sensitivity mass spectrometer, which should be able to impose stringent limits on the existence of light strangelets.
