Anomalous massive nuclei of charge of Z=14 and mass of about 370 amu
were observed in high energy cosmic rays. Assuming that the observed
nuclei are really SQM, an empirical mass formula for SQM is derived on
the basis of a Fermi-gas model. A new balloon program to confirm the
existence of SQM in the cosmic radiation is reported.
