Coordinates: Methods Of Reduction

Scientific paper

The problem of the reconstruction of three-dimensional coordinates of point objects from stereoscopic images formed by the spacecraft passive optical systems in an arbitrary position of their optical axes is considered. The reconstruction algorithm that was developed by the authors provides the optimal estimate of three-dimensional coordinates of a point object, which is based on the use of the maximum likelihood method. The accuracy of the coordinate estimation is analyzed by constructing the scatter ellipsoid of estimation errors in the canonical form. The influence of inaccurate coordinate reference and the imperfect spacecraft orientation on the errors in the estimate of three-dimensional coordinates of a point object is examined. All calculations are brought to simple analytic formulas.
