Through a coordinated network of world-wide observatories, we propose to take advantage of recent advances in pulsation theory to empirically determine the physical properties of convection in a pulsating hydrogen atmosphere white dwarf star (DAV). We will use observed nonlinear pulse shapes of the pulsating white dwarf EC14012- 1446, combined with accurate frequency, amplitude, and phase information, to directly probe the nature of its convection zone. While this global effort is in place, we will utilize the early parts of our nights to gain precise period measurements of the hot pulsating white dwarf star PG1159-035. This data, combined with previous observations, will allow us to measure the first and second derivative of the period as a function of time, directly measuring the star's cooling rate as well as changes in its rotation rate and contraction rate.
