A comprehensive project on the ``Sun in Time'' has been set up over the last few years, aiming at studying the physical properties, phenomenology, and fundamental parameters of a solar-type star (G0-5 V) throughout its main-sequence life. We propose a spectroscopic study with the LETGS/HRC-S to investigate in detail coronal temperature and emission measure structuring, coronal densities, elemental abundances, possible mass flows, and variability in selected targets. We propose three stars regularly distributed in log(rotation period) over the possible range, to be complemented by one GTO target that we will have access to. This will provide a gross overview over the range of solar-type coronae. It is anticipated that additional targets will be requested in later AOs.
